On the morning of December 10, 2020, the General Statistics Office in collaboration with the ASEAN statistical agency held the "High-level Forum on ASEAN Community Statistical System and Vietnam's Statistical System", directly at the General Statistics Office. Bureau of Statistics and by online form with international demand points. Mr. Tran Quoc Phuong - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment speaking at the opening of the Forum. This was followed by opening remarks by Mr. Michael Tene - Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN and Mr. Igor Driesmans - Ambassador of the European Union to ASEAN.
In addition to the delegates who attended the plenary session on December 9, 2020, attending the Forum today were more representatives of ministries, sectors, international organizations and development partners of Vietnam.
At the forum, the ASEAN Statistical Office together with the Statistical Offices of the member countries introduced to all delegates a video graphic on the ASEAN Community Statistics System (ACSS) and other statistical topics.
Today's high-level forum focused on two main topics, including the production and use of statistics in the ASEAN region. Representatives of the ASEAN Statistical Office, the Statistical Office of Thailand, the General Statistics Office and the ministries and branches of Vietnam gave presentations with the topics: ASEAN statistical cooperation progress within the framework ACSS period 2011-2020; strengthen inter-agency cooperation and coordination to improve the National and Regional Statistical System; Vietnam's integration into the ASEAN statistical community; statistical activities of the State Bank of Vietnam in the field of foreign investment; the media's need for statistics; the use of statistics at universities and in research; statistical activities of the General Department of Vietnam Customs in the field of statistics on international trade and goods.
At the end of the Forum, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - General Director of General Statistics Office delivered the closing and concluding remarks.
