The 2021 Economic Census collects information on economic and non-business establishments to meet the following purposes:

(1) Assess the growth in number, size and labor of economic establishments; production and business results; the level of information technology application; structure and distribution of establishments and labor by localities, economic sectors and forms of ownership in order to meet the management requirements of the Party, the State, ministries, branches and localities.

(2) Calculation of official statistical indicators of statistics majors, GDP and GRDP targets in 2020 according to the Project "Innovating the process of compiling data of Gross Domestic Product in the provinces and cities directly under the Central central government” and other statistical indicators of the National System of Accounts.

(3) Updating information, building a database serving the conversion of the base year and compiling socio-economic statistical indicators; to make the overall sample frame on economic basis for sampling surveys in the next period of the Statistics sector, ministries, branches and localities.
